The one deal per day idea was originally started by Woot in the USA & was quickly followed in Australia by Zazz. Catch of the Day started up about 2 years ago & have quickly moved up into the ranks of one of the most visited sites in Australia (not a mean feat). The website was started by the same people that own Daily Deals, a discount superstore selling gadgets & other electronic products.
The concept is simple, there’s one new item on sale every day starting at 12pm (midday). Because there’s only one item at a time it means generally you can grab it at quite a considerable discount. But remember once the day is up or the product sells out that’s the only chance you have to buy it.

poor customer service. paid for items 20 days ago still have not received. wont answer emails. stay clear.
i agree. great prices but extremely bad service. site says delivery takes 7 to 10 days. its been 10 days and the item has only just been dispatched and i have been told to wait another 9 days. very unreliable.
Stay away, poor customer service! and unreliable delivery and tracking system! A few extra $$$ spent with a more reputable online store is a much better choice.
i live in CBD and still waiting,,,its been 11 days and still no sign of ma thing,,,,really bullshit service,,,
I ordered over 3 weeks ago and still have received nothing, although they did answer my email yesterday in a round about way saying they had moved warehouses, and it had probably been despatched but i doubt that. No sign of an email saying it has been despatched, so guess i keep waiting, except i have bought 2 other things in the following week and nothing on them either
Ive been waiting 19 days just for my order to be processed……Then I will have to wait for it to be sent…..They took my money in the first 2 seconds. It will be out of date before i even receive it!

18 days and my order is still being processed. Have emailed but according to what others have said I won’t expect a reply. Satisfied customers will shop again, I will not.

Stay CLEAR. Worse customer service ever. Worse than dealing with ADSL companies.
I’ve ordered several items from them over the last couple of months, and I’ve not had a single problem with them at all. My goods have always arrived within the 7-10 business day timeframe they specify on their site. My only advice is to be discerning with what you purchase - a lot of what they sell is rubbish, but for tech items you cannot really go much wrong.
I have ordered several items as well. I found their kids boxes full of crap, but their red wines they offer are great, also googled them before buying the product to ensure I was getting a good deal. Have just brought two of the healthguard pet beds, which retail online for between $79-$129 and they are offering them for $29.80. So I guess like anything do your research before buying. Delivery wise never had a problem with them.
Beware the Enersonic Power Saver “brought back by popular demand”. Probably the “popular demand” is Catch of the Day’s wish to cash in on people wanting to go green and reduce their electricity bill. It sounds plausible, probably HAS been tested by the University of NSW (for what result, one may wonder) and “approved” by the NSW Dept of Fair Trading (approved for what, you may ask) Bullshit advertising. Search google.
All rubbish, the baby mystery box was cheap unwanted product, the electric shaver was useless. I should’ve checked google for their review first before ordering anything!

I stopped buying from them because the items they sell are just crap. They either dont work straight away or stop working soon therafter. As mentioned postage is all so very slow. Ive found dailydeals.com.au the quality of items is a lot higher and there postage is lightning quick although they are mpre expensive then COTH. But as the old saying goes you get what you pay for and we all no with Catch that you get CRAP.
It is over 2 weeks since my order was dispatched and I haven’t yet received it. I tried using their helpcenter but got a message that that address was corrupted and the same when I clicked on FAQs. The 2 email addresses that I found bounced when I used them. What email address did you other people use to contact them? They seem to have isolated themselves from contact with customers once they have been paid!
Bought a TDK Imaspeaker portable speaker+CD wallet, they appeared to be suave-looking, but when i receive my item, it was wrapped/packaged with dodgey chinese words and descriptions, misleading catch phrase and they were not describing the item as it was. Also, delivery took ages, Im based in Melbourne, and the item shown the origin location from Melbourne (slow slow slow delivery).
Im based in Melbourne, and their item location came/delivered from Melbourne too, but the delivery price was just too high, $40 for a delivery of a small box of electronics. I took the box to the post office and they were quoting a price of $13. Cheaters.

Purchased item. Delivery instructions, said that item must be signed for personally.. Tracking information said my item had been delivered and signed for. I checked with aus post, as i wasnt even home the day it was signed for and they sent me signature. Clearly not my name. Aus post wont lodge an inquiry without request from COTH and COTH wont respond personally to my three seperate requests (to date). I am not happy with COTh or Aus post.
Run away very fast!
Everything is fine and well until something goes wrong. They don’t lift a finger to help. Good prices but make sure you know the integrity of who they purchase the products from as they are the ones you have to deal with if anything goes wrong.
Real customers or just competitors with slanderous fictitious comments?
The fact that this blog in unregulated and no verification of facts leaves this website operator open to question and possible litigation?

Bought 2 items from them - the DLO iphone cover and Tefal bottle sterilizer, both look @ work great, delivery was really fast - got both items within 5 days of payment. No complaints here
My purchases have been delivered promptly, but I am disappointed with the quality. Don’t know that I will continue using COTD.

advertised baitathon - 1 product on sale each hour for 24 hrs, what a shocker!! everytime I tried to get on their servers were full, they asked us to wait a few minutes and try again, well, every time I tried again the product was sold out!!! They can stick their SALES Im staying with deals direct where the shopping is civilised and has great customer service, SHOVE YOUR CATCH OF THE DAY UP YOUR CYBER PASS!
Dealst direct and Daily Deal and Catch are all the same company! I have made numerous orders from them and got everything as ordered, described and all within 5 business days…..and im in Sydney. Let’s hope my luck doesn’t change with today’s order after reading these reviews…..

I have purchased a few bits and pieces from COTD and thankfully have not had any trouble from them. Sometimes shipping has fallen just outside of the time frame but mostly it has been fine. Some things they sell are incredible, others are crap. Be careful of the megabuys and mystery boxes as from what i hear they contain a lot of crap. I ordered a makeup mega box once, got a few great items and a few dodgy ones so really can’t complain. Overall happy with them, but I guess we will see how things are addressed if I ever do have a dispute with them. By the sounds of things they arent great with their customer service
Bought a lap top 20 days back, tracked the order status on the webisite, which says i have to wait for another 10 days. Bought a laptop back pack on the same day from bagworld and it with me in 5 days..Delivery is pathetic from catch of the day..getng frustated
Bought heaps of random items when they had the $10 sale. Placed an order on Saturday, got an email on Monday telling me that the items were dispatched and I received the package by Wednesday. I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and have always had quick delivery from Catch.
Website server is very poor, any good, don’t even bother you won’t get in unless you have super fast internet and live a block from where they are located
Bought an ASUS Netbook off them the other day. Received notification via email immediately, and received product within a week. Have ordered a couple more items since.. will see if any issues arise. So far so good.
I bought a laptop off them a few weeks ago, and it arrived faulty. I cant get a hold of anyone as the phone line just loops and i get left on hold for hours, no return address and no fax number. Its really bad, in the past when i had no problem it was great, but now that my $799 laptop is faulty I cant get it fixed or replaced. I guess i am the unlucky one who got ripped. Buyer beware as they say
I’ve bought a few things from them and found their communications good and the delivery times OK (I’m in Perth, so waiting a couple of extra days isn’t unusual.)
The “woot-off” days are fun, but the real deals get sold out before the page finally loads, generally!
I purchased a number of items, their after sales support is non-existent, beyond “yeah, we’ve had heaps of people complain about the product not being the correct size … maybe you should try selling it on ebay?”
I have had to return a faulty Parker Pen and their service was good but took almost a month to get it exchanged. Now I’ve bought the computer socks and received them in an ugly tan colour, after I bought the item they changed the picture from black only and added that they come in random colours. Customer service didn’t believe me cause they only see the final product page after adjustments. It’s not the first time I’ve seen updates during the 24 hours. Just take a screenshot before buying in case.
The worst thing I saw was an Ipod touch with completely fabricated infomation. It said 5th generation with a radio. There is no 5th generation only 3rd gen, and none of them come with a radio. Is still have the screen capture saved on my computer.
What a sham Catch of the Day is 3 weeks made my order money has gone from my account and still havn’t received any goods. Leaving the country also so I guess I won’t get it now.
Bought an Arista powerboard with surge protection. Threw up a fireball in my living room within 5 minutes after it was set up. Luckily no one got hurt, and no appliance was damanged in the process. Customer service has been responsive. Refund being processed. See how we go.
Try Zazz it’s the best one a day site out there.

What a bunch of whingers! Don’t purchase off the internet and you won’t have these kind of problems. Support your local businesses that offer great service, quality products, no overcharging of postage, no slow dispatch, and when there is a problem you can have a face to face so avoiding the back and forth of emails or non replies. Don’t you all realise how important it is to support local businesses to keep your community and services in existance.
I bought HP laptop $1200 last week, haven got any emails from them after, Im given up on my $1200 already…..No reply to my emails either, never again will buy something online…after one more week, i will be dealing with fairtrading…and see how COTD do…
They are in melbourne, wont be that hard to find….
Anyone who has a problem with COTD go to fairtrading and file a case agains them, its free, and the justice will be served, I have done this before and trust me :)………
To Subun, I bought that same HP laptop and after reading these forums etc. i am starting to get a bit worried as they have not yet dispatched. They said the postage would be 7-10 business days and that means it should come between tomorrow and next wednesday. Although this is pretty slow for postage and i was pretty much expecting it earlier, you should wait atleast until next wednesday to make an issue over it, you have only waited 2 business days by the looks of it, which is nowhere near enough. Can you let me know if you recieve yours, i will do the same.
They have great deals and because they sell so many products they are a little slow in delivering sometimes i have received my item in 2 or 3 days the longest has been about 2 weeks
My Mum & Dad brought a HP Laptop from COTH in the last 12 mths, the delivery was longer then stated and I was getting worried for them but they did receive it not too much after delivery times and had no problem. I also order numerous items from COTH and never had a problem usually receive items within 5 days. I am in Newcastle NSW. I have noticed from previous comments people saying items are all crap, i don’t believe this I recently purchased Seacret - Minerals from the deads nail care kits for $14.95 (a bargain) as I have purchased exactly the same kit b4 from my local shopping centre for $40. Also I bought a double brazillian hammock for $30 recently and it is of excellent quality I love it and had priced for over $100 elsewhere.
I have bought a few items from them and have had no problems with postage but the items I have received are CRAP. They look like things that red dot would sell - so my advice is - EXPECT A CRAPPY PRODUCT!!!! No facility for returns for dodgy items!!!
Bought what I thought was a brand new Navman GPS, and only found out 4 weeks later when it packed up that it was not new, but rather refurbished. When I went back to check it on the website, sure enough, in text you need a magnifying glass to read, and tucked away in a little corner, there it was… refurbished. That is a straight out deceiving attitude. If something is not new, like all things on their site is normally new, then they should have it in big red capital letters saying so. Well I spent about $700 in just over 5 months with them so far…but no more. Sooner or later they will run out of customers behaving like this. Took the tip and signed up with zazz, and already reaping the benefit of very low postage rates.
