The service that they offer seems good as it is nice to have a one-stop-shop but I am unhappy with the way that the bookings are taken. The dates are inaccurate on their calendar and although it looks like a day is available, it may not be and you would never know until after the payment is made. Calendars are used all the time on websites and kept up to date so that the purchaser is fully aware that dates are available for booking restaurants, hotels, events but FreemanX do not believe that this is important. Their words were to the effect of “If our suppliers spent all their time sitting in front of a computer updating the calendar, they wouldn’t be able to service their customers.” My feeling is that this is part of running a business. Any business has things to manage, and this is just one of those things.

In my case, the service appeared to be available on the day that I booked for so I paid the money - about $250 in total. I looked at the Terms and Conditions and it looked as if I would lose my money if I couldn’t make it but it never made it clear what would happen if they were the ones that couldn’t provide the service. So, with that in mind, I went ahead and booked the day. As it turned out, the service couldn’t be provided on the day that I booked, or the day before, and when speaking with FreemanX they said that I could NOT get a refund. They kept referring to their Terms and Conditions and that dates aren’t guaranteed until I receive an email but I believe that they should never have included a calendar showing that dates were available if, in fact, they weren’t. This does not seem fair or ethical to me. Again, their reasoning was that the dates aren’t confirmed until later, by email. But again, by the time an email is received, they had my money and I had lost all opportunity to make an informed decision as to whether I still want the service. In my case, it was a gift for my husband so I did want it to occur on a given day, or at least as close as possible. If I knew that it couldn’t happen, I would have looked for a different service or gift.
I also question the legalities of Voucher Insurance which they offer. Apparently, if I had of payed the insurance, I could have got my money back even though it was their fault that the service couldn’t be offered. I understand charging a cancellation fee if I was the one that cancelled but I should not have to insure against them not being able to provide the service that I paid for. I could be wrong, but that seems a bit odd.
Anyway, my advice is to make your bookings with them over the phone and confirm dates before making any payments. At least this way you can make a fully informed decision.
As for me, hopefully my husband will still enjoy his gift which may happen weeks after the date on which I wanted him to have it. But, I won’t be using the FreemanX site again, I would rather talk directly to the service provider.

    Boycott them at all costs…

I booked for my dad and step mum to do the Auckland Bridge Climb just after christmas.. It turned out that their holiday plan changed which meant they were heading south rather than north which meant they wouldnt be there for the Surprise christmas present!! My bad.. Cancelled the climb direct with the bridge climb company not freeman with plenty of time to re fill the positions which they were happy about. After christmas i then went about getting a refund.. Not possible..!!! I was sooo angry.. Anyway, they then gave me a flexi voucher to use at another time for $280 which i accepted after a long argument with the manager David Noble (dont waste your breathe).

3 months later I go to claim my voucher to go Quad biking.. They then say that the voucher is really only for $260 due to David making a mistake. They would not honour the price on the voucher.. FUMING.

I am now going to put as many reviews out on the web to tell anyone looking to book an adventure activity not to use Freeman x.. Do your self a favour and go direct.. Use their website for ideas and save yourself a headache.

    Steve
